EnergyLink Advise Loft Insulation Is The Best Way To Avoid Centrica’s Predicted Price Rises In 2012
(PRWEB UK) 22 November 2011
After announcing 850 job losses in the company’s service business, in a statement released through the Press Association on 17th November, British Gas parent Centrica warned its shareholders this week that profits for 2011 will be slightly lower than expected, blaming “unusually warm weather experienced in the UK in recent months”.
Centrica’s profit warning in its Interim Management Statement, released on its website at 7am on 17th November, doesn’t rule out further price rises, following those announced by the ‘big six’ suppliers in the summer, and the possibility of rising energy bills in 2012 remains.
According to industry specialists EnergyLink, with another cold winter predicted for 2011 now is the time to make energy saving measures, such as Loft Insulation and Cavity Wall Insulation, and to take advantage of Loft Insulation Grants to protect against rising costs and falling temperatures.
Loft Insulation remains one of the best energy efficient methods of retaining heat and reducing bills and helps to prevent up to 25% of heat being lost through a home’s roof. Meanwhile, Cavity Wall Insulation provides another cost-effective method of retaining heat within a home and can help to prevent up to 35% of heat being lost through a home’s walls, estimate EnergyLink.
A household with both Loft Insulation and Cavity Wall Insulation can save up to £265 per year and Cavity Wall and Loft Insulation Grants, as part of the Government’s Carbon Emissions Reduction Target (CERT), are available to all homeowners to cover up to 100% of the cost.
To qualify for a 100% free insulation grant, homeowners and private tenants must be aged 70 and above, or in receipt of certain benefits, tax credits or allowances. While all home owners and private tenants qualify for a partial insulation grant, regardless of income or circumstances, of between 40 to 70% of the cost.
As well as home insulation, EnergyLink encourage exploring other energy efficient measures as ways to cut the cost of energy bills and fight against price rises. These include using draught excluders, fitting thermostatic controls, having a boiler serviced regularly and to switch energy provider if there’s a better deal available.
